The Richard Roberts Archive is a collection of magazines, books, brochures, programmes, catalogues
and ephemera brought together with the emphasis on the advertising content they contain.

Currently there are over 83,000 items catalogued with the earliest item being from 1806. The
archive covers all genres of advertising across all time periods up to the present day.

Situated in Stockport just outside Manchester, England, The Archive, although a private collection, is
available for use by researchers by appointment.

In addition an open evening is held usually every second Monday in the month when people can join
me and the team for coffee and cake and browse the collection or meet fellow enthusiasts. If you
would like to be added to the circulation list for this just drop me a line through the contact us
section.

Transport links to the archive are very easy as the archive is five minutes drive from Junction 1 on
the M60 Manchester ring road and 4 minutes drive from Stockport mainline railway station
(collection to and from the station can be provided).

My aim with the archive is to bring together material that would otherwise be lost and thrown away
with a view to preserving it for future generations. All of the items in the adbooma shop are
duplicates of items in the archive and money made from the sales in the shop are used to fund the
running of the archive or purchase new items for the collection.

I am always interested in recruiting additional volunteers to help run the archive so if you have some
spare time, are interested in the fascinating field of advertising history, then get in touch and come
and visit us and meet the team.
